🏛 What’s a Brownstone?

Brownstones are iconic New York row houses made from reddish-brown sandstone. Built mostly in the 19th century, they’re known for their high stoops, elegant trims, tall windows, and unified facades. These homes are more than architecture—they represent a piece of Brooklyn’s living history.

You can spot beautiful brownstones throughout Brooklyn, especially in neighborhoods like:
Park Slope – stroll along Carroll Street or Garfield Place
Fort Greene – check out South Oxford Street or Lafayette Avenue
Clinton Hill – look around Clinton Avenue and Washington Avenue
Bedford-Stuyvesant – see historic rows on MacDonough Street and Hancock Street
Cobble Hill – visit Dean Street or Strong Place
Brooklyn Heights – wander along Willow Street or Pierrepont Street
Greenpoint – our workshop neighborhood! Take a walk on Milton Street, Kent Street, or Noble Street to admire the local brownstone charm.
