What our
parents say?

Tracey Turner

Mom to a 2nd grader

“This is the BEST class ever!! Gokce is absolutely amazing. I have an 8.5-year-old who is obsessed with architecture. I have been trying to find a class that would be engaging and expands his knowledge on the subject he loves.

My son is always glowing after the class and so proud of what he learned. Gokce and amazing to work with. She is so thoughtful and organized. She keeps parents connected to what the kids are learning.

My son is doing the one-on-one class online and he LOVES it, it’s the best part of his week. We have done just about every kids class out there, and this is by far the best thing I’ve discovered. I could not be happier with ArKiDect. I’d give Gokce and this class 100 stars if I could :)”

Mom to a 6th grader

“Our daughter has been taking private architecture classes with Gokce for two months. She has loved every minute!

Each project is thoughtfully designed to spark both interest and creativity.  Our daughter has learned far more than we ever expected — the class incorporates not only STEAM principles (from working out measurements for floor plans, to understanding the principles of elevation, to design elements) but also touches on energy consumption and sustainability.

Gokce is also so warm, responsive, and encouraging, tailoring classes to meet the abilities and investments of the student.  Her class has been one of the true highlights of our homeschooling experience this year.”

“My daughter has been working with Ms. Gokce for a month. She truly enjoyed the class and she learned a lot in such a short time.

Ms. Gokce took the time to explain concepts to my daughter that were new to her. She gives weekly assignments and consistently follows them. We are so happy we found her!”

“Wonderful teacher! She’s super nice, patient, and very creative. I appreciate how she tailors the very hands-on lessons around my daughter’s interests (so far they’ve worked together on designing a tiny house and a set for Macbeth!).”

“Gokce is wonderful with our son. She keeps him excited, engaged, and has definitely piqued his interest even more. Hands-on projects and weekly assignments promote the child’s own personal interest as well. If you are looking for a great instructor to teach quality architectural education all while being fun…look no further! Arkidect is the school for you.”

My 7 yr old has a desire to become an architect when he grows up. We wanted to encourage his interest in the right direction and choosing Arkidect for his earlier learning has given us the ability to do so.

After a couple of workshops with Gokce, we were sure getting a 1:1 would help him even further. Gokce has created lesson plans with design concepts and the history of the structure, so he better understands the concept. She lets my son use his imagination to create a structure of his own.

Gokce has made the lessons fun and interesting which was really needed for the kids to stay focused in the virtual setup.”

“Mrs. Gokce is a Godsend to us! My 10-year-old son aspires to be an architect and Ms. Gokce is the perfect mentor and teacher for him! She sets out a strong curriculum customized to her student.

She is a very intuitive teacher and very well aware of her student’s strengths and weaknesses. She knows when to challenge and push her students to be better and when it’s time to respect their design choices and let them work through the challenge. She consistently follows up on assignments and is extremely generous with her time.

She is a passionate teacher and really wants her students to learn the beauty and art of architecture whilst incorporating the technical aspects of it. That is NOT an easy thing to balance!

Her approach is very thought-out. She delivers enthusiasm about teaching the multiple spectrum of what architecture can encompass. It’s not just about building buildings. For example, she is teaching my son about various aspects of creating structures that support sustainable living.

I am aware that these are seeds she is planting in which she is directing him to think and create structures that are respectful of our environment. I find this to be powerful. If my son is trained to think and create this way, at such an early age, it would only be inevitable that when he gets older, he would contribute structures for the betterment of humanity. She is perfect for us!

My son has learned so much from her already. I personally find her to be such an amazing person. I highly, recommend Mrs. Gokce even if your children are not into architecture. As the saying goes it takes a village to raise a child, but I think it’s best to surround your children with the wise ones. She is certainly among them!”

My daughter was introduced to terminology that gave her a better way to see the structures around her. She began to notice things from her time working w arKIDect. Each we she was thrilled to show me what she learned.”

She is a very talented architect as well as an amazing teacher. I love her understanding of Architecture for Kids. She catches easily their level and interest in the subject.

Kids enjoy her classes for sure. I am following her page as an architect, for my kids and myself too. I highly recommend this school to every kid and parent.”

“My 7-year-old had a great time during the tiny house workshop he did with arKiDect. Gokce’s programs are always fun and informative. Her approach and attention to each kid make them feel comfortable instantly.

My son learned many new architectural concepts along with measure and scale. I am happy that he had some stimulating social interaction during this time. Overall I will be signing him up for more workshops in the future and would recommend them to other parents.”

“Gokce’s lesson plans never cease to surprise and amaze my 6 years old (and me, secretly*). When we started the classes I thought it would just be another simple art and crafts class that maaaybe would teach my kid something about NY’s architecture to complement our walks in the city (we live in Brooklyn).

But the classes surprisingly turned out to be so much more! After only 8 classes with Gokce, he now includes small people in his drawings to show scale, can measure things, his drawings got so much more elaborate thanks to all the details they talk about. * I try not to interfere during class so that he can have his time with Gokce but I really have to make an effort to stay away because the stuff they talk about during class is so interesting and I can chat with Gokce myself for the entire class if I don’t hold myself back.

She starts the classes with a presentation first and explains the time period, the materials, the technologies without dumbing it down for kids. She will slow down regularly and ask questions based on the info she just shared to see if the kid can follow or not. She is very patient and she never cuts a child’s sentence in half to speed things up, and lets the child gather their thoughts and express themselves.

This resulted in my child feeling important and being taken seriously, which boosted his self-confidence tremendously. Her classes are an hour long and that’s usually not enough time for kids to finish projects fully but at the end of each class, she asks for a presentation from the child to show where they are at the moment and discusses what their next steps will be and asks for pictures or a video presentation to be sent to her when the project is finished.

This way my kid was able to explore the projects further when the class was over (and I loved the extra quiet time :). What I love about Gokce’s classes as a parent is that she changes her program according to your child’s interests and talents. After exploring treehouses, skyscrapers, suspension bridges and lighthouses, she informed me that now that she knows my child’s interests more, she would like to explore biomimicry with him.

I love the fact that her classes are not limited to what she has ready in her closet but she develops and explores architecture in every aspect with your child. Long story short, Gokce is an amazing, kind and patient teacher and your child will learn amazing things from her.”

“My kids always love to spend time with Gokce. Her class has a very unique program and it is not only fun but also very educational. Kids can learn how to see and analyze objects or situations architecturally. Also, the class is always working on hands-on projects which makes Kids enjoy and learn joyfully. Definitely recommended.”
